Man I suck at updating this

So it's been over a week . . shame on me regards this anyways some news regards the blog

I've done away with a majority of the stuff I need to update, mainly because I cannot be bothered to lol, no seriously now I've got pokertracker it's more a case of using that as my main tool to record things, I've also done away with the 1k challenge because frankly it's not really motivating me as it should be, ditto the Skeeno vs Fenners comp, I find myself drawn to the MTTs and I keep losing pathetically in them, I obviously still have goals to reach and will update as far as these go but I don't really see the need for me to put everything down on here.

As far as the poker goes . . it sucks basically, last week I must have whacked in over 3000 hands and won absolutely nothing. I was up $100 at one stage, before I managed to donk it all off . . most of it on 25NL sigh. The bankroll is exactly what it was at the start of the previous week, the only thing I've accumulated is about 1000FPPs.

Did however put in a serious amount of time at Limit Ring, which is something I'm going to be playing a fair amount of, ain't it funny how one week I say I'm going to concentrate on sngs the next it's ring lol. Anyways . .

758 hands at 0.5/1 6 Max Limit - profit of minus 15 cents!!! Yeah freaking amazing hehe, I was however up some $55 after about 500 hands and running at a BB/hour rate of 12 which is amazingly hot, so with that I feel I can probably with some thinking, reading and sanity beat it.

125 hands at 0.5/1 Full - profit of $6.55 - best to concentrate on full ring.

334 hands at 0.25/0.5 Full - profit of minus $7 - again most of this due to one tilting session and one hand I vastly over played when villain had AA vs my AQ.

Other than that I've dabbled with no limit ring, without any success - some serious flaws there, so I'm avoiding it. SNGs been going okay . . . I'll try and post a picture of them from the new sharktracker tool thing from Arcatum, it doesn't list the $3.40 10 mans but other than that all SNGs inc 9, 45, 180 mans are in there, I've been doing okay in the single table jobs so will continue beating the crap out of them. MTTs bascially I've been sucking in, so will probably avoid, was going really well in a $2.75 job the other night until my AA got cracked by a big stacks A10 with about 300 left sigh.

So that's about it, I will offer more of a thought process to this blog in future posts and less of a stat based/target one. More to come later this week, I'm away and having a complete break this week so it's time for reading and learning with a break from the tables.

SNGs for the win

Hello again, long time no see . . I've not played much since the last update but here's what I have played.

$3.25 35/45 (-$3.25)
$5.50 33/64 (-$5.50)
$11 1/5 PFF Tourney easy money that ($14)

Cash not been going great managed to stack off with AQ yet again.

10nl - down ($15.65)
5nl - up ($36c)

SNG wise

$5.50 1/9 ($17)
$6.50 5/18 ($-6.50)
$5.50 3/9 ($3.50)
$11 3/9 ($7)
$6.50 1/18 ($36.70)

So an overall profit recently of $47.66 which is nice.

I've decided I'm really going to concentrate on SNGs aswell, mainly because I think it's probably the strongest part of my game, ring makes me feel great making a profit but I just feel I don't have any kind of edge on any other players, I tend to overplay TPTK and stack off to easily. I'll probably move down to 5nl 6 max aswell if I do play it but I'm going to concentrate on just making a profit at the $5.50/$11 9 mans with the odd $6.50 18 man turbo throw in and the odd dip into ring and MTTs when I'm feeling frisky! Plenty of comments on the FTR experiment are now posted on the forum the link is here:

A belated update

Okay here goes recent results . .

$5.50 673/2789 (-$5.50)
$2.20 702/1906 (-$2.20)
$6.50 7/45 ($5.50)
$2.20 1st Tie/135 ($8.80)
$2.20 22/2769 - ($7) so near yet so far lol

Profit there of $13.60 wahey

SNGs have been going badly . .

$5.50 2/9 ($8) FTR SNG Experiment, more about this later
$6.50 9/9 (-$6.50)
$6.50 3/9 ($4.30)
$6.50 4/9 (-$6.50)
$6.50 7/9 (-$6.50)
$6.50 3/9 ($4.30)
$6.50 16/18 (-$6.50)
$6.50 9/18 (-$6.50)
$6.50 3/18 ($15.10)
$6.50 5/18 (-$6.50)
$6.50 18/18 (-$6.50)
$6.50 14/18 (-$6.50)
$6.50 5/18 (-$6.50)

So a bit of a disaster all that bubble mania. And a grand loss of $26.80.

Last but not least cash haha.

0.05/0.1 6 max. Profit of $26.20 over some 400 hands so nice. My current stats at 0.05/0.10 are reasonable somehow.

Played 616 hands for a grand profit overall of $18.15 at a BB/Hr rate of 13.75 which is well decent, I'll be sticking to this level and attempting to kill it, I'll post some hands when I get the chance.

Also played stupidly.

0.5/1 Limit lost $12.55
0.10/0.25 nl 6 max lost $11.80
0.25/0.5 nl 6 max won $9.15

So yeah pretty tilty lol and a grand total overall on cash lately of $11 ha and overall from an absolute shedload of hands a grand profit for the bankroll challenge of wait for it . . .

-$2.20

I'll update the Skeenobeener vs Fenners thing later not many games been played and before I go how about this for the most stupid call of the year . .

Wednesday 9 January 2008

Anyone spot me playing cash?

If you did and can legitamately prove it, then I'll send you $5.

Anyways been playing cash again - as if you couldn't guess, ha. However been going ok, playing full ring limit holdem . . mainly because Stars had a technical upgrade, anyways quick update of all the games I've been playing over the past few days . . cash first, then sngs, then sngs qualifying for the Skeenobeener v Fenners challenge.

0.10/0.25 limit full ring ($2.20)
0.10/0.25 no limit 6 max (-$7.25)
0.25/0.5 limit full ring ($1.90)
0.25/0.5 limit 6 max (-$1.50)
0.5/1 limit full ring ($7.40)

Total $2.75 (hardly worth it lol; mind without that escapade into no-limit it would have been $10, so a start, thats probably over approx 500 odd hands)

5/10 $3.40 (-$3.40)
7/10 $3.40 (-$3.40)
3/10 $3.40 ($2.60)
6/18 $6.50 (-$6.50)
5/10 $3.40 (-$3.40)
4/18 $1.75 ($1)

Total -$13.10

Then the 45/180 and MTT jobs.

4/45 $3.25
10/45 $3.25
727/1615 $8.80
17/45 $3.25
32/45 $3.25
15/45 $3.25
13/45 $3.25
65/99 $2.20
1/45 $5.50
31/45 $3.25
10/45 $3.25
23/45 $3.25
3/45 $3.25
23/45 $3.25
1524/2626 $5.50

Total $46

So an overall total profit for everything since Monday of $35.65, not to be sniffed at eh.

Moving on, Fenners has scored nothing of note lately, so wee I'm in the lead, no real surprise hehe. I'm getting pokertracker today so will be inputting zillions of hands and probably looking to improve my limit stats. Playing the FTR SNG challenge thing tonight so I'll update on that and link the relevant thread, don't play all that many 9 man jobs but if it helps me win the PFF challenge more than anything then that's brilliant.

Sunday 6 January 2008

FA Cup sucks anyways

No poker since last update, but I have updated the Skeenobeener v Fenners section. Fenners put in a fair whack over the last couple of days and but for sneaking a win in $5.50 45 man he'd be adrift, as it is well he's in positive and i'm in negative. Still some 360 days to go. Next week I'm going to dominate.

On other matters Mark Halsey's a clown. Adios until Monday . . .

Saturday 5 January 2008

Least said the better . . .

Okay let’s get the bad stuff out of the way.

$3.25 21/45 – standard, short lose a race
$3.25 8/45 – this one was very amusing, final table I played completely maniacally . . . I’ll post the hands when I get home. They are good for a laugh, conceivably I could have cashed but meh.
$3.25 23/45 – flop a set – end up all in – lose to AJ runner runner wtf!
$12 98/180 – element of the tilt monster playing this, bluffed at a very bad time
$6.50 41/45 – terrible bluff went wrong few hands after having to lay down AQ on board of Q56
$3.25 28/45 – uninteresting
$3.25 5/45 – a cash at last

So from that lot a very pathetic return of -$24.75 not good in the grand scheme of things!!

Also played –

$3.40 6/10 – AK lost to 1010
25nl – yeah I know, bad tilty and all that, however I was pretty solid and walked off with $4.15 profit wahey . . . so overall a grand loss for the day $24. I’ll update Fenners latest batch of scores after I’ve checked OPR, I do know he went pretty far in the $3 rebuy before trying to extract to much value with AQ on a board of QQ72 – two spades, villain hit flush on river. Anyways enough of that good job it’s a year long thing hehe.

Moving on I’ve made a few bullet-proof points which I’ve gleaned from FTR and pretty much these ring so true I’m going to nail them to my laptop, I’ve also made some belated New Year’s Resolution away from the tables.

Resolutions

· Sort Finances out
· Eat less junk
· Drink less
· Get fitter

Poker Thoughts

· Bet your big hands
· Don’t get married to TPTK
· Evaluate board after every card, take time
· Evaluate remaining players in pot, what are they like manic, passive, aggro, tight, tricky etc
· Position, Position, Position
· Continuation bets at raggedy flops if raised pre – shut down on co-ordinated flops multiway, spew otherwise
· Confidence – just because KK never wins, always raise it, always look to get all in pre-flop
· Abuse the bubble constantly

Some worthwhile quotes from FTR members, there’s plenty more – but along with the above remembering all of it will help more than anything. As an aside I don’t want to get way too much information in my head, I naturally know to shove 93o from the SB vs the BB if we’ve both got an M of 5 and likewise.

· Only one thing to say about KK, if you raised preflop and got a caller, an A hits and villain bets into you he has an A more often then not.
· Learn about position. Really, just sticking to the following is a good start: Cut the table in half in your mind: the blinds and the last three positions are places you can make moves IF other people haven't committed many chips to the pot. The rest of the table is for only playing GOOD cards. KQ+ and AJ+ at a minimum. As people get knocked out, remove one position from the "I can't make plays here" side until you're short-handed and it's viable to raise any two from anywhere.
· The only times I limp preflop are early in the tourney with pocket pairs (playing for set value) or suited connectors in position and preferably with multiple limpers in front.
· Realise that bad, horrible, appalling, one-outer beats do happen... ...and that the best way to console yourself is to be sure that you got your money in as a favourite - if you did, there is nothing else you can do, you effectively won. Your AA will be cracked by rubbish like QTs 19.5% of the time when your preflop push is called BUT the other 80.5% of the time you double up/take opp's whole stack. The question to ask yourself is "would I have played differently?" and if the answer is "no", then be happy whatever the results might be.
· Don’t call all-in with less than two pair if your flop bet is called and opp pushes on the turn. Sure, sometimes you fold the best hand but more often than not opp will have the goods.

So that’s it, there’s thousands more to read about and digest but I think following the above will help. Lastly I’ve decided that to beat the Fenman I’m going to be solely concentrating on the following games.

· $4.40 180
· $3.25 45 turbo
· $6.50 45 turbo
· $5.50 45 slow
· $3.40 10 turbo – mainly to mix things up
· $5.50 9/18/27 slow – to boost the bankroll
· MTTS all under $5 – 100k job only if I satellite in

If anyone finds me playing anything else I’ll donate $10 to your account. Good luck all let’s hope next update is a happier one. I’ll update the right hand side tomorrow.

Quick Update

Fenners has been sticking in some volume to take an early lead. My performance today was limp.

$3.25 42/45 - this hand all you need to know http://www.pokerhand.org/?1889601
$3.25 13/45 - standard, shortish around bubble lost a race
$3.25 5/45 - shoved K 10 with 4 BBs ran into 99, lost
$5.50 11/45 - another standard short around bubble lost

Anyways grand profit or lack of it of -$3.25, Fenners meanwhile has racked up 19 45 mans already and gained a profit so far of $11.75, so I'm already sinking behind.

Wednesday 2 January 2008

Me vs Fenman

Today's games were pretty trivial.

8/10 $3.40 JJ loses to AK
4/10 $3.40 SB/BB Special my 55 shove called by his 77
3/10 $3.40 88 loses to 66 all in pre

3/18 $5.50 Got berated a little for my SB K7 shove beating the short BB's QQ. Get used to it really circa the bubble, happens. So a grand profit today of $8.30!!

Anyways on to another matter - the challenge is on from today I'm going to check both mine and Fenners8 OPR stats during the year to see who performs better and the see who can claim to be the better player in 2008 in 45s/180s and MTTs. Stats to start from today 2/1 mainly because Fenners scored a nice 2nd in a 45 man last night lol.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year.

So 2008 is upon us, another year over a new one begins, hope everyone had a top few days. Played a few games since the last update it's been a continued curse of AJ mainly - seems to be a hand I very rarely win with yet others continually suck out on me with it. It's rivalling KK for my most hated hand. I haven't yet gone over the 180 man but I'll attempt to get back and analyse it and perhaps offer some comments on my ability to donk a way to the final three lol.

Anyways here's the finer points all the MTTs and 45 man jobs are tracked from here http://www.officialpokerrankings.com/pokerstars/skeenobeener/poker/results/535A406F4086402ABD7B043A4A730FF0.html?t=2 so may aswell use em.

$6.5 16/45
$6.5 26/45
$3.25 13/45
$3.25 15/45
$6.5 2/45
$6.5 11/45
$6.5 24/45
$3.25 27/45
$12 180/78
$3.25 13/45
$3.3 68/899
Profit of $14.95 from that batch, mainly due to the 2nd place. As I say not much else went right lost plenty of races in the others, with one of the 45 mans so sick I felt the tilt monster eager to reappear. AK losing to AJ then AA losing to AJ. The 899 MTT was pretty sick this hand was the key one and as per usual I lost with KK http://www.pokerhand.org/?1882267. As for the smaller fields -

$6.50 10/18
$6.50 4/18
$6.50 13/18
$6.50 11/18
$6.50 8/18
Loss of $21.90 - pretty standard couple of races lost, couple of dodgy moves

$3.40 4/10
$3.40 4/10
$3.40 7/10
Loss of $10.20 - sigh bit of bubble beats there, in one AQ lost to a shorties KK then my shove with 10J ran into AA in the other my two pair BB special hit a set, goodnight.

$6.50 1/9
Profit of 20.50 - I really should play more of these.

$3.25 1/6
Profit of 3.05 - Boring but a profit.

So SNG and MTT wise since last update - a resounding profit of $6.40 amazing, a profit all the same. However the dreaded cash/alcohol curse struck again and what makes it more irritating is both times I played ring I was looking at a healthy profit - and yeah I played way out of my bankroll in the second session but an element of grolsch and losing another suckout in a 45man did it to me, I even asked stars to ban me from the ring games. It's deffo one of my resolutions to not play em in the coming year at least until I have the patience and ability to lay down some hands, anyways . . .

10nl - loss of 7.55 was up 8 then lost a $21 pot with AK vs 33 on a flop of AA3 - so bad beat.
50nl (yeah I know) - quickly got up to $65 with some pretty aggressive positional poker, perhaps I can actually take something from this session, managed to donk the lot by overplaying A10 and calling an all in move, villain had rivered the flush. Not a beat, just a pretty awful call which cost me $30. So ring cost me $37.55, so a total loss of $31.15 since last update.

So that's pretty much it, http://www.officialpokerrankings.com/ is a nice site and I'm pretty pleased with my ranks in both the overall OPR Rank and Stars Rank, however needless to say I'm aiming to continue to improving this, it's also nice to be rated ahead of the likes of Fenners and Keji, not hard really (I may entertain the idea of running a year long prop-bet against em to see who will perform better this year). Just as an aside here's there current SharkScope ratings time to catch Fenners . . .

I will be keeping a close eye on my progress on the OPR and will probably as a result stick to the 45 mans, 180 mans more so than anything else. That's all for now, work this week so volume will be low. Happy hunting.
